What Makes an App Safe for Children?

A safe children's app should meet all of the following criteria:

• No advertising: Children cannot distinguish ads from content. Ads in kids' apps often lead to inappropriate content or app store pages for adult apps.
• No unmoderated chat: Any social or chat features must be heavily moderated or disabled entirely. Open chat with strangers is never acceptable in a children's app.

These popular apps are not necessarily unsafe but require parental supervision and configuration:
